The Search app in SynergyOS is a powerful app for quickly finding any information across your company repository. It performs a full-text search and supports Boolean operators and filters, making it easy to locate exactly what you need.

3. How to Use It
Entering a Query
- Quick Search Bar: Located at the top of the page, the Search Bar gives quick access to perform a search query.
- Search App: the full Search app includes all search filters and options.
- Default Behavior: By default, the search uses an AND operator with stemming (e.g., searching ski also finds skis).
After entering your query:
- A list of results will appear, including the item name, location, and any relevant metadata.
- Results are sortable by column headings (e.g., name, date modified).
- Clicking on a result highlights every occurrence of your search terms within the document or item.
Boolean Operators
You can use Boolean operators to refine your search:
- John Smith: Finds items with both John and Smith (default or using
John + Smith
). - "John Smith": Finds the exact phrase.
- John OR Smith: Finds items containing either John or Smith.
- John NOT Smith: Excludes items containing Smith.
Using Filters
Enhance your search with filters available in the Search Navigation Pane:
To further narrow down your results, the Search app includes an extensive range of filters. These filters are accessible through the Search Navigation Pane, which lists all repositories and their available options. Filters include:
- Folders: Search within a specific folder or include all subfolders.
- Item Types: Filter by type, such as folders, files, notes, etc.
- Authors: Narrow results to items created by a specific user.
- Assigned Users: Filter by tasks or documents assigned to certain individuals.
- Tags: Include or exclude items based on assigned tags.
- Color Tags: Quickly filter by visual color tags applied to items.
- Priority: Refine results by priority level.
- Status: Filter by item status (e.g., in progress, completed).
- Dates: Use filters for:
- Date Modified: Items modified within a specific timeframe.
- Date Created: Items created within a specific timeframe.
- Effective Date: Filter by custom effective dates.
- Custom Metadata: Leverage custom fields defined by your company to refine searches (e.g., case number, project ID).
Viewing Results
- Sortable List: Results include item names, locations, and metadata, and can be sorted by column headings.
