Activity and Commits

1. What It Is

SynergyOS tracks everything that happens inside your workspace — from file uploads to document views — using a unified activity tracking system.
It separates user actions into two clear categories:

  • Commits – Actions that change content or structure
  • Other Activities – Actions that don't modify anything but show engagement

This allows you to monitor all changes with precision, audit work over time, and review user activity by folder, file, or person.

2. Why It Matters

In modern collaboration, it’s easy to lose track of who did what, when, or why — especially across large teams or long projects.

SynergyOS solves this with a unified activity layer that:

  • Tracks every change – Edits, uploads, deletes, moves, versioning — all captured as commits
  • Records all access – Views, comments, searches, and other actions are logged too
  • Improves transparency – See who’s active, who made changes, and what was impacted
  • Supports compliance – Full history is retained and exportable
  • Works across all content – Files, notes, tasks, emails, and more

3. How to Use It

Activity Types

🔁 Commits

Actions that change content or alter structure:

  • Uploads
  • Edits
  • Moves
  • Renames
  • Deletions
  • Saving versions (minor or major)

Each commit includes:

  • Timestamp
  • Author
  • Item affected
  • Action type

👀 Other Activities

Actions that show engagement, but don’t change content:

  • Views (files, tasks, notes, etc.)
  • Searches
  • Comments
  • Navigating through folders
  • Opening items without editing

This separation makes it easy to focus on structural changes (commits) or user engagement (other activities), depending on your need.

Accessing the Activity Page

You can access all activity through the Activity tab in SynergyOS.

Filtering Options

Filter by:

  • Folder
    • Any folder you can access
    • Narrow to a specific project, client, or team folder
  • Type of Commit
    • Uploads, edits, deletions, version saves
  • Date
    • Select specific dates or ranges (e.g. "last 7 days")
  • User
    • If permitted, filter by specific team members

This lets you focus on the activities that matter most — recent edits, deleted content, user activity, or version history.
